VNBA and Ant Group discuss on digital transformation training

On the morning of April 11, 2024, in Hanoi, the Vietnam Banking Association (VNBA) received a delegation of Ant Group led by Ms. Charosporn Om Chalermtiarana (Ms. Om), Senior Advisor on Government Relations (in charge of Thailand and Vietnam) of Ant Group.

The two sides discussed a number of contents related to the cooperation programs and activities in the future, including a comprehensive financial technology training course. On the VNBA side, there were Dr. Nguyen Quoc Hung, Vice Chairman cum General Secretary; Mr. Nguyen Dang Hung, Chairman of VietFintech Club, Deputy General Director of Napas and representatives of some VNBA’s units and several Ant Group’s staff.

Sharing at the meeting, Ms. Om said that in October 2018, Ant Group and International Finance Corporation (IFC) introduced the 10x1000 Technology for Inclusion Initiative (10x1000 Initiative) within the framework of the Annual Meeting of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank (WB) in Indonesia. The program aims to close the global digital capability gap, empower digital talent to thrive in a constantly moving digital world, and promote sustainable development of the digital economy. In particular, the goal of the program is to provide comprehensive training for all participants from different countries around the world to participate online and for free, with content selected according to the needs of the participants. In particular, after finishing the training program, participants can still follow up in the community group.

Up to now, Ant Group's training program has had more than 6,000 students from 106 countries, including about 80 developing countries.

In addition, the number of female participants accounts for about 50% of the total number of participants in the program. There are more than 50 lecturers from different countries around the world participating in teaching (both online and offline).

Participating in the Vietnamese market, Ant Group aims to develop domestic talent, promote international cooperation and create positive impacts for the community and hopes that VNBA will be one of the strategic partners in the future.

Ant Group's program focuses in three pillars: "Mindset", "Knowledge" and "skills". "Mindset" helps participants understand the process of digital transformation appropriately and accurately. "Knowledge" provides contents related to new technology developments such as Block chain, AI, Big Data… “Skill” is core part of the program, including various experience sharing.

The program has 4 parts: “Learn” with certified learning programs, online webinar…; ‘Connect” through online discussions or offline gatherings and various events…, “Inspire” with business insights and case sharing from partners and alumni/Cutting-edge technology, innovative solutions/Entrepreneur or career mentorships and ‘Empower” through a hub to plug in various resources to drive and fulfil cooperation domestically and internationally.

Speaking at the working session, Dr. Nguyen Quoc Hung, Vice President cum General Secretary of VNBA, expressed his welcome for Ant Group's sharing and proposals on a comprehensive financial technology training program. Dr. Nguyen Quoc Hung also posed questions to Ant Group representatives about the method, organization and content of the comprehensive financial technology training program to suit the context of banks in Vietnam.

Dr. Nguyen Quoc Hung said that banking is one of the fastest digital transformation fields in Vietnam, the number of banking staff and employees who need to be trained and advanced in digital transformation is very large. Therefore, disseminating digital transformation knowledge to banking staff is one of the most useful and necessary issues.

Agreed with Dr. Nguyen Quoc Hung 's speech, Mr. Nguyen Dang Hung, Chairman of VietFintech Club, expressed interest in the development trend of Fintech as well as world technology and the program’s content suitable for these two trends so as to nominate appropriate participants.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Son, Director of VNBA Training Center, also recommended to add some professional content related to risk management of digital banking, payment risks, anti-money laundering... into the Ant group’s training program.

At the end of the meeting, Dr. Nguyen Quoc Hung agreed to the cooperative proposal of Ant Group and said that in order to effectively implement the proposal, the two sides will establish a focal point to discuss on further cooperation.
