VNBA and FiinGroup partner to advance data infrastructure for Vietnam’s financial-banking sector

Amid the rapid expansion and increasing complexity of Vietnam’s financial and banking market, transparency, risk management, and analytical capabilities have become critical pillars for sustainable development. Building a robust data and knowledge infrastructure is now essential not only for financial institutions but also for strengthening overall market confidence.

In this context, the Vietnam Banks Association (VNBA) and FiinGroup have officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to foster the development of data infrastructure and analytical capabilities across the financial-banking sector.

Integrating ecosystems and data capabilities

Under the agreement, both parties will focus on integrating FiinGroup’s data, analytics, and technology capabilities with VNBA’s extensive ecosystem of 76 member institutions, including banks, finance companies, and payment intermediaries.

This collaboration is expected to enhance information sharing, promote knowledge dissemination, and improve the quality of professional content within the financial sector. It will also leverage emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), to strengthen data analytics and risk management practices.

Key areas of cooperation include providing in-depth analysis, market data, participation in professional forums and seminars, as well as collaboration in training and industry communications.

Growing demand for data and credit analytics

Mr. Nguyen Quoc Hung, Vice Chairman cum Secretary General of VNBA

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Quoc Hung, Vice Chairman cum Secretary General of VNBA, emphasized the increasing importance of data-driven insights:

“In the context of rapid digital transformation and intensifying competition, the demand for credit ratings, market analysis, and evaluation for credit institutions is essential.”

He noted that the partnership represents a significant milestone, opening new avenues for collaboration in consumer finance, market analysis, communications, and training—thereby enhancing information quality, promoting transparency, and supporting the operations of financial institutions.

“VNBA will create favorable conditions for FiinGroup to actively participate in professional activities… delivering practical value to the banking community.”

Data and analytics as competitive differentiators

FiinGroup CEO Nguyen Huu Hieu

From FiinGroup’s perspective, CEO Nguyen Huu Hieu highlighted that the partnership goes beyond institutional collaboration and aims to build a shared data and knowledge platform for the entire industry:

“Data and analytical capabilities will become key determinants of competitiveness for financial institutions.”

He expressed confidence that combining FiinGroup’s strengths in data, analytics, and technology with VNBA’s ecosystem will enhance information quality, support decision-making, and reinforce market confidence.

FiinGroup representatives also affirmed their commitment to delivering in-depth, data-driven insights and independent assessments to support policy formulation and help financial institutions refine their business strategies.

Toward a transparent and sustainable financial market

The MOU between VNBA and FiinGroup marks a concrete step toward strengthening Vietnam’s financial data infrastructure—an area with significant room for development. As international governance standards continue to be adopted, high-quality data and advanced analytics will play a foundational role in enhancing the competitiveness of the banking system.

Ultimately, this partnership is expected not only to benefit member institutions but also to contribute to a more transparent, efficient, and sustainable financial market in Vietnam.
