Standing Committee of the Vietnam Banks Association Council meets for the 4th session in 2025

On the afternoon of September 29, 2025 in Hanoi, the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Banks Association (VNBA) held the 4th meeting of 2025, discussing issues under its authority and preparations for the Association's 8th General Assembly (2025-2030). Mr. Pham Toan Vuong - Chairman of the Association Council, General Director of Agribank chaired the meeting.

Also attending were all the Standing members of the Council, including Mr. Nguyen Quoc Hung - Vice Chairman and General Secretary of the Association; Mr. Tran Van Tan - Vice Chairman of the Association Council, Member of the Board of Directors of VietinBank; Mr. Pham Quang Tung - Vice Chairman of the Association Council, Member of the Board of Directors of BIDV; Mr. Do Viet Hung - Head of the Inspection Committee, Member of the Board of Directors of Vietcombank, and leaders of departments and units under the Standing Agency.

Reporting at the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Quoc Hung said that in the first 9 months of the year, VNBA has successfully completed its professional tasks, organized many seminars and workshops, participated in giving opinions on policy mechanisms and strengthened communication and foreign affairs, contributing to enhancing the position and prestige of the Association in the banking system. Many prestigious international organizations expressed their interest and desire to cooperate in a number of areas such as fintech, payment, ESG, implementing supply chain digitalization initiatives, combining payment factors and connecting domestic and foreign businesses.

Vice Chairman cum General Secretary Nguyen Quoc Hung reported on the results of the recent successful working trip to Victoria (Australia) of VNBA delegation. Along with that was the result of the working session with VTeam Financial Services Group (Taiwan, China), opening up many new business cooperation opportunities for member organizations.

Regarding the preparation for the Association's 8th Term Congress (2025-2030), Vice President and General Secretary Nguyen Quoc Hung also reported on the organization plan; personnel plan, commendation and awarding of commemorative medals; draft amended and supplemented Charter... for comments from the Standing Council members.

Discussing and commenting at the meeting, the Standing Council members all acknowledged and highly appreciated the results achieved by the Standing Committee of VNBA, and basically agreed with the report presented by the General Secretary. The Standing Council members also highly appreciated the careful preparation for the upcoming 8th Term Congress, and commented on a number of draft submissions and reports serving the 8th Term Congress.

Concluding the meeting, Chairman of the Association Council Pham Toan Vuong acknowledged the achievements of the Standing Agency in the past 9 months as well as the contributions of the Standing Council members at the meeting.

He emphasized that the Standing Agency of VNBA needs to continue to promote the achievements, proactively grasp new policies and the business environment to promptly support members. He also noted a number of tasks that need to be focused on in the direction of the 8th term such as the issue of risks in the field of real estate credit, investment in technology to improve security management capacity, operational safety... as well as support to promptly remove obstacles for member credit institutions.

At the meeting, the Standing Council members approved the draft reports and agreed to implement the steps to prepare for the 8th term Congress as in the draft submissions, including adding Council members (increasing from 13 to 15 members) to enhance operational efficiency. It is expected that the 8th term General Assembly of the Association (2025-2030) will be held around April 2026.
