On occasion of attending 53rd ASEAN Banking Council Meeting in Myanmar, on the afternoon of 21 November, the delegation of the Vietnam Banks Association (VNBA), led by Vice Chairman and Secretary General Dr. Nguyen Quoc Hung, visited and held a working session with BIDV Yangon Branch.

Welcoming the delegation were Mr. Nguyen Quang Ngoc, Director of BIDV Yangon Branch; Ms. Daw Khin Cho Cho, Deputy Director; along with more than 40 officers and staff currently working at the branch.

During the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Quang Ngoc presented an overview of the branch’s operations amid Myanmar’s unique political and economic context in recent years. He noted that BIDV is currently supporting and accompanying most Vietnamese enterprises operating in Myanmar. In addition, BIDV Yangon Branch also provides services to numerous clients and partners from Europe, South Korea, Japan, and other countries, reflecting the strong reputation and stable position of the branch in the local market.

Mr. Nguyen Quang Ngoc emphasized that Myanmar possesses significant development potential, with rich natural resources and strong demand for commercial cooperation. For this reason, BIDV identifies Myanmar as a strategic market where maintaining its presence and enhancing competitiveness are essential to capturing future opportunities.

Speaking at the meeting, Vice Chairman and Secretary General Nguyen Quoc Hung shared that prior to arriving in Myanmar, the delegation had certain concerns regarding the actual situation. However, upon arriving in Yangon, the delegation observed that the city remains peaceful and stable, with local residents and partners offering warm hospitality—demonstrating goodwill and a strong desire for cooperation.

The VNBA representative expressed appreciation for the dedication, resilience, and courage of the staff at BIDV Yangon Branch, who have overcome many unique challenges to sustain safe, stable, and effective operations. He expressed delight at the branch’s encouraging performance and conveyed his empathy regarding the personal difficulties faced by staff working far from their families.

Dr. Nguyen Quoc Hung expressed confidence that BIDV Yangon Branch will continue to grow strongly in the coming period, despite the challenges associated with resource mobilization. He encouraged the entire staff to maintain unity, persevere through difficulties, and make the most of available opportunities to contribute to the overall success of BIDV.

The Vietnam Banks Association affirmed its readiness to accompany and support BIDV Yangon Branch within its functional capacity, creating favorable conditions for staff to successfully fulfill their duties while maintaining balance between work and personal life. The VNBA representative conveyed well-wishes for health and happiness to all staff and expressed hope that their material and spiritual well-being would continue to improve.

On behalf of the entire staff, Mr. Nguyen Quang Ngoc expressed sincere gratitude for the delegation’s encouragement and support.
