Attending the ceremony were Dr. Nguyen Quoc Hung - Vice Chairman and General Secretary of VNBA, Mr. Pang Liang - Deputy General Director of Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC), Hanoi Branch (ICBC Hanoi Branch) and leaders of departments of VNBA and ICBC Hanoi Branch.
Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Nguyen Quoc Hung congratulated ICBC Hanoi Branch on becoming an associate member of VNBA and living in the "common house" of Vietnam Banking Association. This is also an honor for VNBA to admit another foreign bank branch.
Briefly reviewing the structure and operation of VNBA, Dr. Nguyen Quoc Hung said that currently, the Vietnam Banking Association has 76 members. Of which, there are 63 official members, 11 associate members and 02 honorary members. Members of the Banking Association are divided into 4 groups: Group 1 is credit institutions that are banks; Group 2 is consumer finance companies; Group 3 is the payment intermediary group; Group 4 is the Training and Communication group. VNBA will be responsible for protecting the legitimate rights and interests of members, and members have the right to participate in the activities of VNBA such as seminars, workshops, etc. In addition, in the organizational structure of the VNBA Standing Body, there are 7 specialized departments and offices with a representative office in Ho Chi Minh City. In addition, there are a number of affiliated organizations, typically: Legal Club; Consumer Finance Club; Fintech Club (payment intermediary); AMC Club, etc.
Dr. Nguyen Quoc Hung also added that the Banking Association has two media units, the Website and the Financial and Monetary Market Magazine, and closely coordinates with dozens of press and television agencies to promote the Association's communication activities, giving voice to member organizations. Through communication, the activities of members and the banking industry are more widely known and more effective.
Vice President and General Secretary Nguyen Quoc Hung affirmed that ICBC Hanoi branch as well as other members in the "common house" VNBA will be fully protected for their legitimate rights and interests as well as listen to, share, and synthesize opinions reflecting the wishes and proposals of members and make recommendations to competent state agencies on issues related to the development of banking activities... VNBA will research and learn more about the activities of members to closely monitor and promptly protect members, creating favorable conditions for members to operate.
In recent times, VNBA has effectively implemented many activities to support members, protect the legitimate rights and interests of members in accordance with the provisions of law; Disseminate, exchange experiences, organize events, conferences, seminars, talks, exhibitions on issues related to banking activities, organize training, coaching, and perform other service activities according to the provisions of law, be granted professional certificates when meeting the conditions prescribed by law; promptly reflect difficulties and obstacles to the National Assembly, the Government, the State Bank, etc.
Dr. Nguyen Quoc Hung hopes that in the coming time, with the responsibility of VNBA, it will continue to closely coordinate with State management agencies, ministries, branches, the State Bank, etc. to resolve and handle the difficulties and obstacles of members. At the same time, he also requested that ICBC Hanoi branch as well as members of VNBA need to be responsible for participating in contributing policy mechanisms to agencies and branches.
Dr. Nguyen Quoc Hung also added that VNBA has completed and is preparing to issue a set of rules for one-way money transfers abroad and a coordination regulation to prevent fraud and counterfeiting in payments. Currently, it is preparing to draft a "Guidebook for providing, operating and using cross-border payment services using QR codes"... At the same time, it hopes that in the near future, ICBC Hanoi branch will join hands with VNBA to complete the legal framework and provide policy comments on the above contents.
Sharing at the ceremony, Mr. Pang Liang - Deputy General Director of ICBC Hanoi Branch expressed his joy when ICBC Hanoi Branch became a member of VNBA. This is not only an important milestone in the development journey of ICBC Hanoi Branch, but also a valuable opportunity for ICBC to strengthen cooperation and development with the Vietnamese banking and finance industry.
Mr. Pang Liang said that ICBC Hanoi Branch was officially opened in January 2010, always strictly complying with legal regulations, and actively promoting its role as a "China - Vietnam financial bridge", serving the economic and trade cooperation between the two countries and contributing to the economic development of Vietnam.
To date, ICBC Hanoi Branch has provided more than 4 billion USD in credit to the Vietnamese market, focusing on areas such as thermal power plant construction, wind power projects, solar energy production, electronic product manufacturing, mechanical equipment import, etc.
In addition, ICBC Hanoi Branch has also built extensive financial cooperation relationships with 20 banks in Vietnam and provided financial services such as money transfer, payment, and credit card issuance to more than 20,000 individual customers. Currently, ICBC Hanoi Branch ranks first among Chinese banks in Vietnam in terms of asset size, profitability, and other core performance indicators.
These achievements are thanks to the guidance and support of Vietnamese government agencies, along with the cooperation and companionship of partners in the financial industry.

Highly appreciating the role and position of VNBA, Mr. Pang Liang said that VNBA plays an important role in ensuring and promoting the sustainable development of the banking industry, is a platform for exchange and cooperation between members, and provides valuable support in policy consulting, construction, industry standards and professional capacity improvement.
As a new member of VNBA, ICBC Hanoi branch hopes to receive support, assistance and guidance from VNBA to continue to improve professional capacity and strengthen its position in the market. At the same time, it pledges to closely cooperate with the Banking Association, the State Bank and relevant agencies to serve the interests of the Vietnamese financial sector.
