Shinhan Bank VietNam achieves the PCI-DSS certificate version 4.0.1

Shinhan Bank Vietnam Limited (“Shinhan Bank”) achieved the international Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard Certificate (“PCI-DSS”) with the highest level 4.0.1 assessed by Broadband Security (Korea).

Shinhan Bank is proud to be the first foreign bank in Vietnam achieving this international certificate, recognizing the bank constant efforts in improving, upgrading information technology infrastructure, in order to meet and comply with strict principles in customer data security.

PCI-DSS is an international security certificate established by the Payment Card Industry Security Standards Council (“PCI SSC”) to protect the cardholder data against frauds and breaches. Compliance with PCI-DSS standards helps Shinhan Bank increase its success rate of preventing suspicious transactions; supports the Bank to develop diversified services and card utilities; as well as expand its partner network participating in the bank’s payment ecosystem, etc. It also helps customers enhance their experiences in a fast and safe payment transactions, especially online card transactions.

To achieve this certificate, Shinhan Bank has successfully met all the PCI-DSS standards, including: advanced encryption, strict access controls, maintaining technical systems to prevent intrusion, continuous system monitoring and assessment, etc. in order to protect customer data.

Achieving the PCI-DSS Certificate not only enhances Shinhan Bank’s security infrastructures, but also affirm the Bank’s commitment in implementing the motto of “Customer data security is the top priority”. Moreover, efforts in achieving the PCI-DSS Certificate is one of targets in Shinhan Bank’s comprehensive digital transformation strategy, aiming to provide customers with safe, convenient and modern financial transaction experiences.

Achieving the international PCI-DSS Certificate with the highest level assessed by Broadband Security also demonstrated that our bank security system is continuously evolving, approaching the most stringent global technology standards".

Shinhan Bank will strongly invest in cybersecurity measures and collaborate with industry leaders to stay ahead of new challenges in the data protection operation. Previously, Shinhan Bank received ISO 27001:2013 certification from the British Standards Institution (BSI) for meeting international requirements for Information Security. We are expected to continue pursuing its goal of achieving ISO 27001:2022 certification in July 2025, reaffirming the Bank’s strong commitment to continuously enhancing its systems to ensure optimal customer information security.
