SBV and BCC sign MoU on Cooperation

On September 26, 2024, in Havana, the capital city of the Republic of Cuba, the State Bank of Vietnam and the Central Bank of Cuba (Banco Central de Cuba - BCC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the Cooperation under the witness of Party General Secretary and State President To Lam, and First Secretary and President of Cuba Miguel Díaz-Canel.

Deputy Governor Dao Minh Tu, on behalf of the SBV, and Minister-President Juana Lilia Delgado Portal, on behalf of the BCC, signed the MoU.

This MoU has created a formal framework for the SBV and the BCC to develop and implement cooperation activities, focusing on experience sharing and provision of technical assistance for capacity building for the BCC.

The priority areas that the two sides agreed to focus on in the bilateral cooperation include: (i) Planning and implementing the policies of the Central Bank; (ii) Banking inspection and supervision; (iii) Development of payment systems; (iv) Central Bank’s governance and human resource development,... with various forms, such as working visit exchanges, direct/online discussions, attendance at training courses and seminars...

The signing of the MoU marked an important milestone in the cooperative relationship between the SBV and the BCC, contributing to realizing the guidance and the policy of the Party and State on strengthening the friendly relations, deepening and further expanding the comprehensive cooperation and the mutual trust between Vietnam and Cuba.

The planned cooperation activities are expected to help strengthen the capacity of the managers at all levels, aiming to improve the effectiveness of planning and implementing the monetary/banking management policies of the BCC, and promote the cooperation between the two central banks.
