On December 16，2009，the Hanoi Branch of the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China ("ICBC") was officially established, and it is the first branch of  ICBC in Vietnam. On January 26, ICBC Hanoi Branch  carried on business in Hanoi, the capital of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam..

After the opening of ICBC Hanoi Branch, ICBC, with its strong customer base, funds, networks, technologies and brand, will actively support the financing needs on construction of Vietnam's local infrastructure such as electrics, high ways, high-speed rail ,harbor, telecommunications, etc., and provide a series of overall、excellent and express financial services to corporate and individual customers, including deposit、remittance、loan、foreign exchange 、trade finance、international settlement、E-bank,etc., strive to become a bridge and a hub for economic and financial exchange between China and Vietnam, and play a necessary role in serving economic and trade exchanges between China and Vietnam and promoting Vietnam's economic development.

- On December 16, 2009, Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, Hanoi Branch, abbreviated as ICBC - Hanoi Branch, was officially established in Hanoi.

- On December 26, 2010, ICBC - Hanoi Branch officially started operating in Hanoi.

In 2012, for the first time, it ranked 1st among the 5 Chinese banks in Vietnam in terms of asset size. With a starting capital of 50 million USD, in 2013, many indicators of total asset size and profit doubled, even increased many times.

In 2014, the business structure and business model were changed, ensuring annual profit growth of over 20% to 30%. In 2018, a representative office was established in Ho Chi Minh City.

Accordingly, the goal is to achieve total assets and profits growing steadily over the years and promote the development of 1 belt 1 road items. At the same time, promote cross-border payment services.
