VNBA talks with the Attaché of the Consulate General of Canada

On October 2, 2024, the Vietnam Banks Association (VNBA) had a meeting with the Commercial Attaché of the Consulate General of Canada.

Representative of the Canadian Consulate General aimed to learn about the activities of VNBA in general and the Vietnam Financial Technology Club (VietFintech) under VNBA in particular, as well as to learn about potential cooperation directions between Canadian companies and VNBA members in the fintech sector.

At the meeting, Ms. Nguyen Kim Long - Attaché of the Consulate General of Canada (in charge of information technology) expressed her joy and gratitude for receiving the reception of the leaders of the VNBA, as well as taking the time to discuss and consult some information related to the activities of VNBA and the VietFintech Club.

Ms. Kim Long said that currently in Canada, the Fintech sector is receiving a lot of attention, promotion and development from the Government with nearly 1,400 companies in the Fintech sector. It is expected that a delegation of about 27 Canadian fintech companies will attend the Singapore Fintech Festival in November. If VNBA also has a delegation attending, bilateral exchanges will be established, opening up cooperation opportunities between Canadian companies and VNBA members in the Fintech sector.

Speaking at the meeting, Dr. Nguyen Quoc Hung - Vice President and General Secretary of the Vietnam Banking Association acknowledged the information shared by the representative of the Canadian Consulate General and highly appreciated the cooperation opportunities in fintech and financial activities of businesses of the two countries. Dr. Nguyen Quoc Hung also introduced the organizational structure and operations of VNBA and VietFintech Club.

Dr. Nguyen Quoc Hung said that fintech and digital transformation activities are being strongly implemented and developed relatively well in Vietnam, and can be considered among the leading groups in the Southeast Asian region. The speed of digital transformation in Vietnam is fast and strong, attracting the attention of many countries. He also asked the representative of the Canadian Consulate General to provide and share more content and activities of the Canadian delegation expected to attend the Singapore Fintech Festival to coordinate in building a working program, exchange and meeting in Singapore.

Dr. Nguyen Quoc Hung said that VNBA is ready to listen and discuss cooperation opportunities with Canadian businesses. At the same time, he agreed to promote activities and programs to develop the financial technology sector in the future with Canada.
