VNBA and ACCA talked on collaboration in training and sustainable finance development

On January 8, 2026, the Vietnam Banks Association (VNBA) hosted a delegation from the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) for a meeting focused on collaboration in training and sustainable finance development.

Attending the meeting, on the VNBA side were Dr. Nguyen Quoc Hung - Vice President and General Secretary of the Vietnam Banking Association, along with leaders from several departments and units of the Standing Office. On the ACCA side were Mr. To Quoc Hung - Country Director of ACCA Vietnam and Ms. Kieu Thi Thu Trang - Head of External Relations.

At the meeting, Mr. To Quoc Hung provided an overview of ACCA — one of the world’s largest and fastest-growing professional accountancy bodies. Founded in London, United Kingdom in 1904, ACCA offers in-depth programs in accounting, auditing, and finance that are grounded in high ethical standards. The ACCA qualification is widely recognized by employers in more than 180 countries and territories around the world.

ACCA has been present in Vietnam since 2002, where it works closely with universities, educational institutions, and businesses to deliver internationally-aligned training programs. Its mission includes developing high-quality human capital, expanding internship and employment opportunities for ACCA members, and supporting professional growth in the accounting and financial sectors.

During discussions, ACCA expressed its strong interest in strengthening cooperation with VNBA in areas such as training and specialist seminars. Specifically, both parties highlighted topics of current interest — including ESG and green credit, international financial reporting standards (IFRS), risk management, AI ethics, and other technical subjects relevant to the banking and financial sector.

Dr. Nguyen Quoc Hung praised ACCA’s global standing and reaffirmed the importance of practical, relevant training that meets the professional needs of VNBA member organizations. He noted that providing certificates after training would help banking professionals enhance their capabilities and support deeper integration into global markets.

Both sides agreed to continue working together to refine specific cooperation frameworks. They plan to gather feedback from member credit institutions to finalize program content, and will jointly organize expert seminars in both in-person and online formats as a first step toward long-term partnership.

Looking ahead, expanded collaboration between VNBA and ACCA is expected to significantly strengthen the quality of human capital in Vietnam’s finance and banking sector, support the banking system’s access to international standards and best practices, and contribute to sustainable and digital transformation across the industry.
