VNBA Chairman: The role and position of the VNBA is increasingly enhanced

The Association's recent activities have made its role and position increasingly enhanced, received trust and support from all levels, sectors and member organizations.

Implementing the regulations in the Charter of the Vietnam Banks Association (VNBA) and the Resolution of the Association Council, on May 10, 2024, VNBA has held the 4th Annual Conference, Term VII to summarize, to assess results after one year of implementing tasks, and to make plans to be performed in 2024.

Speaking at the opening of the Conference, Mr. Pham Duc An, Chairman of the Association Council, shared that 2023 was a particularly difficult and challenging year for the Government's macroeconomic management; The State Bank, with its role as state manager in the monetary sector, was also under increased pressure and had to handle many complex issues at the same time.

In that context, VNBA also confronted with many opportunities and challenges. Following closely the direction of the Government, the tasks of the industry and the Association, VNBA has actively organized to implement the proposed Resolutions, action plans, step by step to implement them quite comprehensively thus making positive contribution to the overall success of the banking industry in all aspects, specifically:

First, VNBA has always focused on consultation and policy assessment. The Association, together with member organizations, has proposed and contributed quality comments/assessment to improve the system of legal documents related to the structures and operations of member organizations (MOs);

Second, VNBA has strengthened and promoted the role of connection between MOs and the state management agencies thus protecting the legitimate rights and interests of MOs;

Third, VNBA has innovated its communication work on banking activities thus supporting society, people, and management agencies understanding, sharing and supporting for the specific activities of the banking industry.

Fourth, VNBA has been proactive and flexible in training and coaching of banking staff as well as the international cooperation, the implementation of the Code of Professional Ethics aand other Internal activities...

Fifth, VNBA has launched the emulation movement and successfully organized a series of activities towards the “30th Anniversary of the establishment of the Vietnam Banks Association" so as to promote the operation and development of VNBA in particular, the banking industry in general; To build, honor and promote the standard image of bank staff that create good spillover effect of the banking industry to people and businesses and also create motivation and active atmosphere for MOs to complete most their goals and tasks in 2024.

Chairman Pham Duc An affirmed: "The above results are achieved thanks to the active and responsible contributions of MOs, the leadership and direction of the Association Council, and the high sense of responsibility of the Standing Agency and affiliated units as well as the regular attention and direction of the State Bank’s Party Committee Board, the State Bank of Vietnam’s Management Board, the Ministry of Home Affairs as well as the coordination of relevant ministries, branches and other agencies. The Association's activities have recently made the role and position of VNBA increasingly enhanced, received trust and support from all levels, sectors and MOs”.

Lastly, Chairman Pham Duc An added: "The Association should make more effort and pay attention to some aspects that need to be improved so as to fulfill its role better, meeting the requirements of the State Bank of Vietnam, the Ministry of Home Affairs as well as MOs’ expectations".
