Dr. Nguyen Quoc Hung expressed his pleasure at Mr. Paul Gwee’s visit and talked about the banking sector and other issues of mutual interests. He especially stressed the success of "Risk Management in Vietnam" workshop that was organized by both associations.
During the discussion, Dr. Hung mentioned that VNBA is a professional social organization representing credit institutions and other related organizations operating in Vietnam banking sector. Over nearly 30 years of establishment and development, the VNBA has become a strong and reliable organization that protects the legal rights and interests of its members. It has served as a bridge between its members and the others State agencies, contributing to the stability and effective development of the banking system and supporting the implementation of monetary policies to promote the socio-economic development in Vietnam.
VNBA has also received numerous prestigious awards such as Second-Class Labor Medal, the Third-Class Labor Medal, commendations from the Prime Minister, banners of emulation and commendations from the State Bank of Vietnam, commendations from the Ministry of Justice, and many other honors.
Dr. Hung also highlighted that VNBA has become a trusted organization for its members in representing and protecting their legal rights and interests, especially when it comes to providing input on policy mechanisms and safeguarding their legal rights in civil disputes and criminal cases. In the meanwhile, he expressed gratitude to the ABA and their partner - Oliver Wyman for their effective collaboration in organizing the Risk Management workshop and for introducing the Mojaloop project in Vietnam those have significant, important contribution to the credit institutions’ activities. He expressed his hope that in the future, there will be further cooperation between VNBA and ABA to organize more dialogues, workshops, and training sessions with diverse and practical content, including topics related to risk management and payment activities.
In terms of international cooperation, VNBA is also an active member of the ASEAN Bankers Association that collaborates with various international banking associations and reputable international organizations.
Furthermore, in the context of Vietnam's ongoing revisions and amendments to the draft Law on Credit Institutions, Dr. Hung also expressed his desire to receive more assistance from the ABA so that the VNBA can access and study about legal documents related to the banking sector of other regional countries.
Mr. Paul Gwee expressed sincere thanks for the warm welcome and for sharing valuable information from VNBA. He stated his willing to cooperate and support VNBA and its members in implementing meaningful and practical events in Vietnam. He did hope that both sides would continue to exchange and share related information in the future.
