Dear Friends and Colleagues
On behalf of the ASEAN Bankers Association (ABA), I extend an earnest welcome to all our friends and colleagues to the coming 52nd ASEAN Banking Council Meeting. This capstone event in our ASEAN Banking calendar will be hosted by The Association of Banks in Malaysia (ABM) from the 4 to 5 December 2024, at the Le Meridian Hotel, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The Organising Committee at ABM has been working tirelessly to assemble subject matter experts and thought leaders to deliberate, provide insights and leadership on the highly relevant topics in the new normal economic conditions, banking industry and regulatory environment as well as particularly in the ASEAN region. I commend The Association of Banks in Malaysia (ABM) for so aptly selecting this year’s theme of “Sustainability: Taking Action Now for Tomorrow”. Given the growing urgency of climate change impact on sustainability, it is only right and perhaps our responsibility as key stakeholders to collectively review and take bold actions now on our transition journey, even though this is not a Conference year. This will be addressed through a curated panel discussion with subject matter experts.
I would like to urge all members of ABA to participate in this prestigious event and to use the panel platform as an avenue to share your views and comments during the discussion and Council meeting. This will strengthen and help to shape our own strategic pathways for the banking and finance industry and complement the regional sustainability agenda in this region. This occasion will also present great opportunities for you to network with your regional peers and business leaders as well as others thought leaders and subject matter experts outside the region.
I would like to thank ABM for hosting and arranging a list of interesting programmes and exciting social activities for all participants to have memorable time in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. I am also grateful to The Honourable Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan, Minister of Finance II, His Excellency Datuk Abdul Rasheed Ghaffour, Governor, Bank Negara Malaysia, and His Excellency Dr Kao Kim Hourn, Secretary General of ASEAN, who have very kindly agreed to grace the respective ceremonies in this event.
I look forward to seeing you all at the event and wish you a rewarding and memorable time in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Jose Teodoro K Limcaoco
Chairman, ASEAN Bankers Association
