Shinhan Bank Vietnam launches ai translation desk to elevate banking experience for foreign customers
With Vietnam attracting a surging influx of foreign expatriates, professionals, and tourists, language barriers frequently complicate over-the-counter financial procedures and banking transactions. The "AI Translation Desk" addresses this friction point by enabling direct, seamless communication between customers and bank tellers via a real-time speech recognition and translation system, making face-to-face interactions faster, more natural, and highly efficient.
The system currently supports near-instantaneous translation across 38 languages through a highly intuitive user interface. By leveraging advanced AI technology, speech is converted to text almost immediately, bridging the communication gap between customers and front-line staff. To ensure absolute accuracy during critical financial transactions, customers can easily review and edit the translated text directly on the screen after voice recognition.
The AI Translation Desk has been initially rolled out across six strategic Shinhan Bank branches, including two in Hanoi (Le Thai To and Pham Hung) and four in Ho Chi Minh City (Head Office Transaction Center, Phu My Hung, Sai Gon, and Dong Sai Gon).
Integrating artificial intelligence into customer service is a core component of Shinhan Bank’s overarching strategy to deliver a more modern, frictionless, and customer-centric banking experience for expatriates in Vietnam. Through continuous service optimization and aggressive technology adoption, Shinhan Bank continues to solidify its role as a trusted, forward-thinking foreign bank accompanying international clients throughout their financial journeys in Vietnam.
