Published annually since 1994, the Central Banker Report Cards evaluate the performance of central bank governors from nearly 100 countries and territories, along with key regional institutions including the European Central Bank (ECB), the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB), the Bank of Central African States (BEAC), and the Central Bank of West African States (BCEAO).

Ratings range from A+ to F, reflecting success in managing inflation, sustaining economic growth, ensuring currency stability, and guiding interest rate policy. An “A” grade represents outstanding performance, while an “F” indicates failure.
“Over the past few years, central bankers worldwide have concentrated on combating inflation using their most powerful tool — raising interest rates — though each economy faced unique challenges. As inflation begins to ease, the impact of those difficult policy decisions is becoming clearer,” said Joseph Giarraputo, founder and editorial director of Global Finance. “Our annual report celebrates leaders who not only deliver results, but also demonstrate independence, discipline, and strategic vision in monetary policymaking.”
The complete 2025 Central Banker Report Cards will be featured in the October issue of Global Finance (print and digital editions), as well as on GFMag.com.
